I’ve noticed my mental stamina decreasing over the past few weeks.
Maybe I’ve been getting burned out from working a lot. Maybe it’s my body telling me to take a break. No matter what the cause is, it’s definitely just an excuse. Nothing more.
Since I’ve noticed my mood plummet on certain days, I wanted to fix the issue. This lead me to “Lead The Field” by Earl Nightingale (came at a recommendation of a podcast host that I frequently listen to).
There’s one story in particular (from what I’ve made it through in the book) that has struck me hard.
It goes something like this…
There was a very successful, happy man.
Every morning, he would wake up, and the first words out of his mouth were, “It’s going to be a great day!”.
At one point in his life, he ended up in a coma. Time went by, and he finally woke out of the coma.
He looked around. He saw the hospital bed that he was in, and saw his family in the next room over.
The very first words that came out of his mouth were, “It’s going to be a great day.”
Wow! That’s such an incredible story. And even more impressive, it’s real!
This man ingrained that phrase into his mind. It was part of him. Every day was a great day because he knew it was going to be. There was no other option.
In an act to recreate this, I woke up today, and the first thing I said was, “Today’s going to be a successful day”. Part of me was just saying it because I want to make it a habit. But the subconscious part of my mind took the bait. And now, even after just one morning, I feel unstoppable.
I feel a high that I haven’t felt in a long time! And it’s thanks to one simple story — which cost me only $8.99. What a freakin’ bargain!
I understand that it’s not this easy, and that there are days that will be harder. But, every morning from here on out, I know what the first words out of my mouth will be. I will not give myself the option to have anything but a successful day.
Every day. Day in, day out.
Until next time,
