I’ve been addicted to the tv show “Psych” lately.
But, it’s not just all for fun and pleasure. The show actually has a plethora of business lessons contained in the episodes. I talked about one of the lessons I picked up on a couple weeks ago. It was how Shawn (the fake psychic main character), was able to just start a detective agency. He didn’t worry about money, or potential of failure. He just did.
Well, I’m here to talk about the biggest lesson you can learn from “Psych”. It’s how you can be the most effective salesman ever.
Picking up on the deepest parts of your customer’s personalities and interests, and using them to build a quick relationship.
Shawn is a master of this practice. Because of his almost superhuman ability to pick up on everything around him, he can read people instantly.
In fact, it’s his ability to do this that convince the cops to believe he’s a psychic in the first place.
If you can learn how to do this with your customers, then you’ll understand how to sell to every different type of buyer. Some buyers buy with facts and figures. Others buy with emotion. Most buy with emotion, and justify with logic.
Take the time to ask good questions. Truly listen to their answers. Use those two steps to build a deep relationship. Customers will tell you everything you need to know on how they like to be sold to.
