I can’t believe I’m on post 3 already! This has been an incredible little experiment so far.
Currently, I have 16 minutes until the hour is up on this “three posts in under an hour” challenge. Even though this deadline is only in my mind, I feel such an urgent pressure to accomplish my challenge. And I won’t let hell or high-water keep me from finishing this last post on time!
I’ve talked about discomfort, and also distractions, but let’s now talk about finishing a project with a self-created deadline.
Do you create deadlines on everything you do? Because you should!
My guess would be that the majority of people are procrastinators. They will wait until the very last minute to complete something. But what if there is no deadline? A procrastinator, by logical conclusion, would then never complete that project (because there’s no deadline). They’ll get to it “tomorrow”, or “next week”. Neither of those ever seem to play out though. So the project remains incomplete for eternity…
I don’t have much to say about this topic. I think it’s pretty self-explanatory, but it’s something that needs to be said.
If you want to be at the top of your game, you need to be setting deadlines that push you, and that force you to grow (especially if you’re a procrastinator). Otherwise, you’re destined to live the life of dissatisfaction because nothing gets done, and 20 years from now, you wonder where the time went, and why you never accomplished anything…
Creating success starts with the commitments you made to yourself.
Until next time,
11:21am (3 minutes under the hour mark!)
